Contingency plan?
All health workers to be vaccinated in the event of a bird flu outbreak, or if they have symptoms. People with non-communicable disease to be given anti-virals and medical supervision. From 1 March, poultry keepers are to keep birds in the areas most at risk confined and all domestic birds are to be fed indoors. Bans on bird fairs and markets.
Vaccine research?
Preparations to pay a company 5m euros for right to buy first stocks of any vaccine.
Anti-virals stocks?
Three million doses available by the end of 2007, with an aim to protect 30% of the population.
Other information?
Vets are to be made a priority.
