Scotland confirms swan had bird flu

The first confirmed case of the H5N1 strain of bird flu was found in Scotland when a dead wild swan was found in a harbor about 250 miles northof London. This makes Britain the 13th country in the EU to have found bird flu in a wild bird. Calm is encouraged while monitoring of birds in preserves is increased. Contingency plans are being discussed such as keeping tame birds indoors to separate them from possible infection.
