Officials say the first case of bird flu in the U.S. could happen in weeks or months. A national response plan in the case that the bird flu infects humans is expected soon. 90 people million people would be assumed to become infected in the US and 2 million would die during a worldwide flu pandemic.

Places where groups of people gather such as work, school, and other events may need to be cancelled or closed to help prevent the spread of bird flu. Preparations for people to work at home may be necessary; stressing the Internet. It is possible that it would be necessary to produce U.S. money in other countries. Veteran's Affairs hospital parking lots may become the location for a medical exam for those who think they might be infected.
