Tests to identify bird flu strain
BBC News
April 28, 2006

Tests to identify the bird flu strain that has killed chickens at a Norfolk farm are due. The government's chief vet said it was likely to be the H7 strain which although deadly to chickens is less of a threat to humans than the H5N1 strain. No signs of human illness has been seen on the farm. Those people who have been in very close contact with infected birds are at risk. In 2003 a H7 variation, H7N7 infected more than 80 people and killed one vet. Since 1979 there have been four H7 cases in the UK.
