Thailand wary of bird flu outbreaks among neighbors
Reuters

Bangkok is stepping up their efforts against bird flu, H5N1, although it has not re-emerged for over four months. Since 2004, 14 Thais have been killed by H5N1. The increased measures follow a ministerial meeting which discussed the threat caused by outbreaks in neighboring countries. Measures include border surveillance and banned imports of live poultry as well as increased efforts to prevent poultry smuggling. Thailand was one of the worst-hit countries in Asia in 2003.
