US chicken stocks drop, bird flu fears wane

The amount of chicken stored in U.S. warehouses is shrinking, indicating that global fears about bird flu are easing and that chicken exports are returning to more normal levels, industry sources said.

"I think bird flu is beginning to drop off of the front pages of newspapers," said Paul Aho, an economist who runs Poultry Perspective, an industry consulting firm. "I'd say this market is surprisingly strong."
